This week on Music Across Borders, American singer-songwriter Jason Mraz returns with his long-awaited third album titled “We Sing We Dance We Steal Things.”
Throughout his career, Jason Mraz has displayed a wide variety of stylistic influences, covering everything from pop, rock, folk, country and even hip-hop. While his latest album still contains tracks which show off his acoustic-guitar driven pop, the eclectic artist also embraces a neo-soul sound, the results of which are heard on tracks like “Butterfly.”
Along with the rather cheeky puns dotted throughout his songs, Mraz is also known for his rapid-fire lyrical delivery. Check out his syncopated scatting on the track with a mouthful of a title, “The Dynamo of Volition.”
Included on Jason Mraz’s new album are two notable collaborations. One is a melancholy track featuring UK artist James Morrison. Also listen out for Mraz’s lively duet with fellow American artist Colbie Caillat.
